A look back at Binder Jetting's Ceramic Additive Manufacturing Day

On 3 October, the Centre for Technology Transfers in Ceramics (CTTC) took part in the day dedicated to Ceramic Additive Manufacturing by Binder Jetting, an event organised by the French Cluster for Ceramics. The event was held in Labège, near Toulouse, on the premises of CEA Tech. This technical day, focused on one of the most promising processes in additive manufacturing, brought together various experts in the field to discuss the latest advances and innovations in Binder Jetting technology.

Binder Jetting is a 3D printing method that involves printing a binder with an inkjet head, onto a bed of powder. This process enables parts to be produced layer by layer without the need for manufacturing supports, while offering the possibility of creating more complex shapes that are difficult to achieve using traditional methods.

During the day, a number of conferences highlighted the latest advances in research and development in this field.

Our colleague Malgorzata Piechowiak had the opportunity to present her work in a talk entitled: ‘3D printing of porcelain using Binder Jetting: from the material to the final properties of the sintered parts’.

Alongside the lectures, the CTTC was able to take advantage of a visit to CEA Tech Occitanie's 3D CAMP technology platform to see several Binder Jetting printers running on.

The day was rich in exchanges and discoveries, and enabled the CTTC to strengthen its collaborations in the technical ceramics sector.
